University Catalog 2026-2027

Biological and Agricultural Engineering Technology (Minor)

The BAET minor is designed for students interested in the application of engineering technology within agricultural and environmental systems. Areas of emphasis include machinery, agricultural structures, food and feed processing, soil, water, and waste management, electrical power and controls, and agricultural safety and health technologies.

The minor enables students from other majors to understand the multidisciplinary role of engineering technology in the equipment, materials, resources, processes, and facilities used within their primary field of study. Students gain foundational knowledge in applying technology to manage agricultural and environmental issues, assess impacts, and support monitoring and decision-making.

Admissions

Students interested in pursuing a minor in Biological and Agricultural Engineering Technology (BAET) should contact Mr. Tommy Stephenson for consultation and approval. Admission to the minor requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Students must declare the minor no later than the registration period of their final semester at NC State. Once admitted, each student will be assigned a minor advisor.

Certification and Completion

Students are encouraged to declare the minor as soon as they decide to pursue it. All minor coursework must be completed no later than the semester in which the student expects to graduate from their major program. The minor must be officially added during or before the registration period of the student’s final semester at NC State.
