University Advancement
The mission of University Advancement at NC State is to amplify the university's local and global impact by nurturing lifelong relationships, championing philanthropy and strengthening the Wolfpack community. The division is composed of six teams — Advancement Services; Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving; Finance, Administration and Talent Management; Principal Gifts Program; University Development; and University Special Events and Experiences — who build relationships across the university and beyond to ensure a best-in-class experience for alumni, friends and donors. Visit the University Advancement website for more information.
Advancement Services
Comprising the offices of Advancement Information and Technology, Gifts and Records Management, and Donor Services, Advancement Services plays a vital role in advancing NC State’s fundraising and engagement efforts through accurate data, innovative technology and exceptional service. The department delivers the systems, tools and insights that help the university build stronger relationships with alumni, donors and friends, ensuring every gift is managed with integrity and care. Advancement Services also leads data and systems governance for University Advancement, promoting the ethical, consistent and secure use of information in all fundraising and engagement activities.
Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving
Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving (AEAG) uses a wide variety of platforms, channels and methods to create meaningful opportunities for alumni to engage with one another, support the university and celebrate the Pack spirit year-round. The unit also procures and increases annual gifts to the university by leveraging existing relationships and creating new ones. Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving collaborates with partners across campus to plan and implement a coordinated, integrated strategy aimed at increasing support for and engagement with the university while strengthening NC State’s culture of philanthropy.
Finance, Administration and Talent Management
The Office of Finance, Administration and Talent Management (FATM) provides strategic budgeting and financial compliance alongside HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding and professional development — all of which allows University Advancement to thrive.
Principal Gifts Program
The Principal Gifts Program engages with NC State alumni and friends to harness transformational philanthropy, defined as gifts of $5 millions and above, and propel the Wolfpack forward on a monumental scale. The program’s close ties with areas all across campus — including the 12 colleges, units, athletics and university leadership — enable principal donors to effect precise change and generate even greater impact.
University Development
University Development raises philanthropic support for university goals and priorities that benefit NC State’s students, faculty, campus and ultimately, the state of North Carolina by working closely and strategically with teams throughout University Advancement and within the university’s colleges, units and programs. The department includes the offices of Central Major Gifts, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Development Communications and Stewardship, Gift Planning and Prospect Development.
University Special Events and Experiences
The primary function of University Special Events and Experiences is to plan and manage events linked to the strategic priorities of the university and leadership. Activities include directing donor-centric experiences, coordinating multi-unit event projects, managing board and leadership events, and creating opportunities to foster pride. USE invites thousands of donors, dignitaries, elected officials, media, alumni, members of the community, faculty, staff, students and parents to activities that highlight the excellence and innovation that are hallmarks of NC State.
