University Communications and Marketing
As NC State's central, in-house communications and marketing agency, University Communications and Marketing provides the campus community with professional communications services that help NC State achieve its mission. We lead and support NC State’s communications across a wide variety of functions, including strategic planning, public relations, media relations, marketing, web communications, social media, internal communications, crisis communications, publications, video, photography and graphic design.
Marketing
- The Creative Services team collaborates in developing and executing strategic communications initiatives by providing art direction, UI/UX design, graphic design, photography and videography.
- The Marketing Content team consists of writers, editors and communications strategists who create mass-market campaigns across television, radio, print and web outlets; implement targeted marketing efforts that influence selected key audiences; and engage in joint communications projects with campus partners that move NC State and its units forward.
- The Web and Digital Strategy team provides leadership and strategic direction for NC State’s overall central web presence, including the university’s homepage, second-level pages and other elements of the core website. The team also provides assistance, support, coordination and strategic consultation for digital communications throughout the university.
University Communications
- The News Services team develops and markets news articles and story ideas on faculty teaching, research and expertise for dissemination to print, broadcast and electronic media. The team offers customized media relations training for faculty and staff, including practical advice on working with reporters, one-on-one coaching and advanced on-camera training in a TV studio.
- The Editorial Services team develops and disseminates campus news and feature content via publication in The Bulletin, NC State’s weekly faculty/staff e-newsletter. The team also manages the University Calendar; collaborates with university leadership and campus partners to schedule, edit and send mass emails; and provides professional services such as writing, editing and strategy consultation to clients across campus.
- The Public Relations unit leads efforts to advance NC State’s position as a top institution of higher learning and provides communications counsel and support to the university community.
- The research communications hub helps the university achieve its strategic goals by telling stories about its problem-solving research enterprise, and by building bridges between NC State researchers and science journalists.
- Published three times a year, NC State magazine tells the stories that keep all alumni and friends of NC State connected to the university.
- The University Communications team offers a training program tailored to the needs of NC State faculty and staff. Whether you're a researcher trying to communicate your work to the public or a communications specialist interested in creating top-notch content, the team’s trainers are here to help.
Social Media
- Social media experts from across campus come together in NC State’s Social Media Strategy Hub, a collaborative, analytically driven workspace where good ideas compound and great social content thrives. The hub’s social media specialists leverage social platforms to strengthen NC State’s brand and tell the Wolfpack’s stories by maintaining the university’s official social media accounts. The team also empowers units across campus to run their own social channels more effectively.
Strategic Brand Management
- The Office of Strategic Brand Management helps the university accomplish its goals and achieve its potential by strategically protecting, promoting, elevating and monetizing one of our university's most valuable assets: the NC State Wolfpack brand. The team provides leadership and support for university brand sponsorships and collaborations, internal and external brand protection and enforcement, and trademark and brand licensing.
