Military Science (Minor)
The Department of Military Science (MS) offers a minor in Military Science for undergraduate students interested in leadership, military organization, and service. The minor may be completed alongside any undergraduate degree program and provides an introduction to the principles of leadership, decision-making, and professional development.
Coursework combines foundational knowledge with applied experience, supporting the development of skills relevant to both military and civilian contexts.
Please see our website for detailed information on the program.
Veterans
The department encourages all Veterans earning an undergraduate degree to also earn a Military Science minor. Most Veterans are able to transfer credits toward the minor based on their military service. More information is available through Military and Veterans Services.
Admissions
To be admitted to the program, a student must have a GPA of at least 2.0. Application for admission to any University minor program is now available via MyPack Portal. Admission will be based upon the student’s academic record, and in most cases no longer requires departmental review. More information on how to add a minor can be found here.
Certification
The Military Science minor advisor, listed below, will certify completion of the minor prior to graduation. The minor must be completed by the semester in which the student intends to graduate, and certification should be submitted during the registration period for the student’s final semester at NC State.
