Department of Military Science (Army ROTC)
The Department of Military Science at NC State provides academic coursework and leadership development through the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. The curriculum introduces students to the principles of leadership, decision-making, and professional communication, while supporting the development of responsibility, confidence, and sound judgment.
Courses are designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and applied experience in leadership and management, preparing students for professional environments and service-oriented careers.
Military Science Minor
The Department of Military Science (MS) offers a minor in Military Science for undergraduate students interested in leadership, military structure, and service. The minor may be completed alongside any undergraduate degree program and introduces students to foundational concepts in leadership, decision-making, and professional development.
Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
The Army ROTC program at NC State provides academic coursework and leadership training for students pursuing a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, or U.S. Army Reserve. Students enrolled in the program complete the Military Science minor while fulfilling requirements for commissioning.

Army ROTC Scholarship Opportunities
Two-, three-, and four-year scholarships are available on a competitive basis to academically qualified students. Scholarship benefits may include:
- Full tuition and mandatory fees or applied towards room & board
- A book allowance each semester.
- A tax-free monthly stipend based on academic status during the academic year.
