Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center provides free academic assistance to NC State undergraduate students enrolled for credit in many challenging introductory accounting, biology, chemistry, economics, genetics, math, physics, and statistics classes. Several types of assistance are available that are designed to best meet the students’ needs, including 1:1 appointment tutoring, weekly group tutoring, drop-in tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction (SI).
Additionally, writing consultations are available to both undergraduate and graduate students to assist at any stage of the writing process in the English language. Academic peer mentoring is also available to students wishing to work on general academic skills such as note-taking, time management, and test preparation.
Students are eligible to become a peer tutor or mentor for the ASC if they have an established GPA of 3.25 or better and at least a B+ in the course(s) they wish to tutor. All new undergraduate student employees are required to take USC 210 during the first semester of employment to learn techniques designed to help students become independent learners. ASC training programs are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program at Levels 1, 2, and 3.
Our Mission
The Academic Success Center facilitates degree completion by providing a comprehensive variety of free programs and resources that promote academic skill development and independent learning within the university environment.
