TRIO Programs
TRIO Collegiate and Pack Support Programs at NC State provide targeted academic, personal, and professional support to students who meet federal eligibility criteria. Through accredited TRIO programs – including Student Support Services (SSS and SSS-STEM) and the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program – the unit provides holistic coaching, financial literacy education, undergraduate research preparation, and community-building opportunities that remove barriers and support student success.
As federally regulated programs, TRIO SSS, SSS-STEM, and McNair adhere to strict U.S. Department of Education guidelines regarding student eligibility, confidentiality, data reporting, and annual performance standards. We collaborate closely with campus partners to provide students with seamless, strengths-based support while maintaining compliance with federal, institutional, and ethical expectations.
In addition to our TRIO programs, we steward several institutional initiatives – 1887 Fellows, Pack Promise, and First in the Pack – that promote success and wellbeing, and ensure students have access to the resources and mentorship needed to navigate the university experience. Our work integrates research, career development, financial empowerment, and holistic support to help students reach their educational and career goals.
Grounded in a deep commitment to accessibility, student success, and belonging, TRIO Collegiate and Pack Support Programs partner with faculty, staff, and campus collaborators to create an affirming environment where students are validated, equipped, and supported to reach their full potential at NC State and beyond.
