The African American Cultural Center promotes awareness of and appreciation for Black, African American, and other African-descent experiences through programs and events that support and enhance the holistic academic experience. Students, staff, faculty, and visitors are welcome to visit our center which includes an Art Gallery, Library,  Living Room, and Study Rooms. 

We are located in the Witherspoon Student Center (2nd and 3rd floors), the first building on NC State’s campus named for an African American, Dr. Augustus M. Witherspoon.

Our Mission

The African American Cultural Center is an expressive and abundant haven for the NC State community. Through a model of student success, well-being, and belonging, we provide mentorship, resources, and cultural programming to empower all NC State students to excel and embrace their identity. Our work is grounded in the Black diasporic traditions of storytelling, innovation, and communal care.
